The presidents of Arab and African trade unions praise Egypt’s urban experience

Saudi Housing Minister: Building the housing unit does not take more than 35 days

Majid Al-Hogail, Saudi Minister of Housing, said that the time required to build a housing unit now does not exceed 35 days, due to the use of garden technologies in the construction sector.
According to a report published by news agencies, Al-Hogail confirmed in statements after his inauguration of the Building Technology Conference, that in 2019 it is possible to see that building the housing unit does not take more than two days.

He explained that the Saudi Ministry of Housing began implementing the one million units project by using all modern technologies, with the aim of reducing the construction cost and reducing the project implementation period.

Saudi Egyptian Construction signs 5 contracting contracts to implement units in New Cairo

Eng. Darwish Hassanein, CEO of the Saudi Egyptian Construction Company, revealed during the press conference held by the company to sign the contracts – that the five contracts were signed with the Arab Pioneers for Contracting, Karnak Contracting and Supplies, Al Shams Contracting and Engineering Works, and Al-Akkad for engineering works and “won two tenders” and the works include 21 implementation. Hassanein indicated that the company offered the units’ works in accordance with its usual policy of limited tenders, and about 7 companies registered in the Egyptian Federation for Building and Construction Contractors submitted in each bidding and the comparison between the offers submitted was transparent, and the tenders were awarded and assignment orders were issued to the winning companies.

Hassanein added, “Al-Ruwwad and Karnak will implement 4 buildings with a total of 80 units at a cost of 50 million pounds, and Al-Akkad 8 buildings with a total of 40 duplex units at a cost of about 91 million pounds, Al-Shams Contracting 5 buildings with a total of 25 duplex units at a cost of about 55.1 million pounds.”

He added that with these works, the number of buildings that the company has awarded to contracting companies will reach 84 out of a total of 120 buildings, and the remaining 36 buildings will be offered in tenders to contracting companies within 3 months, indicating that the company intends to complete the project within two years, as the period of its implementation has been set. With 3 years, despite the fact that the period specified in the ministerial decision is 5 years, which reflects the company’s desire to speed up the implementation of the project.

The “Riyadh Secon” project is located on 68 acres in New Cairo, and it is an integrated residential complex of the above average level that includes 120 residential buildings that include 1897 housing units of various sizes and includes 5 different models. The spaces start from 140 to 190 meters and includes apartments and duplexes. The project is implemented on 3 In stages, its total investments amount to about 2.5 billion pounds, and it is implemented on a plot of land, the in-kind share paid by the Ministry of Housing in the increase in the capital of the Saudi Egyptian Construction Company, which took place in 2015.

Hassanein explained in another context that the company intends to pump about 4 billion pounds in investments in its new project, which it intends to implement on the plot of land it recently acquired in the new administrative capital with an area of ​​70 acres.

He pointed out that the project will include, according to the initial studies, about 65 buildings with a ground height and 7 repeated floors, with a total of about 2000 housing units with different models and areas ranging from 140 to 210 meters.

The company is preparing to start the procedures for selecting the consulting office that will carry out the design work for the project.

Hassanein stressed that the Saudi Egyptian Construction Company bears upon it five secretariats, which are to improve the conditions of employment in the company, good management of the funds of the Saudi and Egyptian governments, and to give contractors working in the company’s projects their contractual rights and in their correct timing, fulfill contracts with clients, and implement projects according to decisions.

The construction sector witnessed a high growth rate compared to last year

According to a report published by news agencies, he stressed that the total projects executed by construction companies currently exceed 6 billion dollars.

He said that the company expects to get projects for the current year of two billion dollars, pointing out that there are opportunities for infrastructure projects in Dubai for Expo 2020 and sports projects in Qatar, and there are huge projects for Aramco and SABIC.

He expressed optimism about the performance of the construction sector in the Gulf and North Africa. He said that since the beginning of the year, the sector has witnessed an increase in liquidity and the number of projects.

He pointed out that the picture is better than last year, in terms of liquidity and projects offered more this year, expected to improve margins of profitability because of “the integration of contractors or the exit of a number of them from the market”
